Making for one of the tightest races in recent memory, a trifecta of films found themselves vying for the top spot at the box office over the weekend of September 30-October 2, 2011.

Emerging atop the pack was the Warner Bros. "Dolphin Tale," as the family film raked in $3.4 million on Friday and $6.5 million on Saturday en route to an estimated weekend take of $14.2 million.

Following closely behind were Brad Pitt's "Moneyball" in second with $12.5 million and last week's top grossing picture "The Lion King 3D" at $11 million.
Rounding out the top five this week were two newcomers in the Joseph Gordon-Levitt fronted comedic drama "50/50" and the Alex Kendrick directed drama "Courageous" both garnering opening weekends of $8.8 million.

As for the other two just-released movies, Daniel Craig and Rachel Weisz's "Dream House" finished in sixth position with $8.2 million while the Anna Faris starring comedy "What's Your Number?" closed behind "Abduction" in eighth place closing with a $5.6 million debut.
