The Many Styles Of 2011 Oscar Host Anne Hathaway

Anne Hathaway had many wardrobe changes throughout the evening of co-hosting the 83rd Academy Awards with fellow actor James Fraco. She was first spotted on the red carpet before showtime in a red Valentino couture gown.

Once the show began she had 7 wardrobe changes and I have to say not all of them were pretty (much like the show). Take a look for yourself...

Clay Aiken & Co. Present Versatile Show in PA

Show Spotlights Vocals, Humor

The versatility of Clay Aiken and his back-up musicians was on sparkling display at the Glenside, PA, Tried & True Concert in the Keswick Theatre Sunday night.

Magnificent vocals from the powerful to the delicately etched, the singer's humor and quick wit shared more each performance with the similar good temperament of his musicians, and a "stump the band" segment that retains a near-perfect score for the tour were all part of another entertaining show along the T&T trail.

The talented musicians accompanying Clay on the 22-city tour include Quiana Parler, vocalist; Ben Cohn, keyboards/arranger; Adam Fallen, guitar; Del Atkins, bass; and Felix Pollard, drums.

Since I have young musicians anticipating afternoon lessons, this blog will no doubt be of the progressive variety; so check back. Below are glimpses of Sunday night's performance from fan recaps, photos, and videos.

C finger: This evening was just splendid. Clay is a superstar. My husband commented on how easy and relaxed he is on stage; how quick witted he is, how beautifully he sings,; how wonderful the arrangements are; how talented Quiana is.

A woman, probably in her 80s, sat behind us; and we had a conversation with her. I don't know if she is a NJU or relative of a fan, but she was a lovely, delightful woman.

As Clay was singing I heard her say to the person she was with, "Oh, this takes me back to my youth." Then when he would start a song she was familiar with she would sigh or say "ohhhh" or gasp. She had a great time.

Clay said at one point that he was losing his voice and had a couple of problems. But he sang through it, around it and was as always, my absolutely favorite Singer Man. No one like him!

casso: What an overly super-talented, a growl in the voice, caring and loving man we are following! His change up with emotions from one song or banter to another are truly outstanding.

Met two NJU men at the ticket window who won tickets for another show and asked if they had ever been to a Clay concert and they said this was their first. They said they LOVE his music and will be attending more.

I HAD THE TIME OF MY LIFE once again thanks to Clay and Company!

WSN Segment Yields Variety in PA

Among the genres covered in the Glenside 'Who's Sorry Now' segment were yodeling, Argentine tango, and scat singing.

Celebs Attend 2011 Vanity Fair Oscar Party

If you watched the 83rd Academy Awards last night you'll know that a lot of these celebrities weren't seen on the red carpet. It seem seems that many of Hollywood's finest opted to skip the almost 2 1/2 hour show and simply show up to some of the after parties.

This party in particular was hosted by Graydon Carter and held at teh Susnset Tower last night in West Hollywood.

Fit beauty Jessica Beil (pictured above) was not seen strutting her stuff on the red carpet with musician/actor boyfriend Justin Timberlake. Instead of his girlfriend, JT was accompanied to the awards show by his mother Lynn. And, as cute as that might be it might be nice to see those two together in public since it happens so rarely and maybe then it'll put a stop to the rumors that Justin Timberlake has been getting close to supposedly newly single Amanda Seyfried.

National Tooth Fairy Day

  

Today is National Tooth Fairy Day in the U.S. Who knew there was such a thing?

From Feb 28: Celebrate National Tooth Fairy Day by Joseph Karbousky:

Everyone growing up as a child has heard of the mysterious Tooth Fairy. She was the only reason kids didn't mind loosing teeth! Most kids would place the tooth that had fallen out under their pillow at night, and wake up to find that the Tooth Fairy had taken the tooth and had left money in it's place!

In mythology, fairies are always believed to be kind and giving, but the history behind the Tooth Fairy is a very interesting one.

In the early days of Tooth Fairy existence, many people believed the fairy was a mouse! The very beginning myth of the fairy is believed to have started in France, and depicts the fairy in the form of a mouse from the fairytale "Le Bonne Petite Souris."

In the fairytale, the mouse would change into a fairy to help the queen overthrow an evil king by knocking out all his teeth while he sleeps. Doesn't sound like a pretty picture!

"Le Bonne Petite Souris" is a tale by Madame D'Aulnoy known in English as "The Good Little Mouse." I have two different translations of it on SurLaLune, here and here.

I'm throwing in images of tooth fairy books and films into this post for imagery, but the best book on tooth lore in gernal is Throw Your Tooth on the Roof: Tooth Traditions from Around the World.

The Straight Dope also has a great article on tooth fairy history which actually, gasp, sites an article in American Folklore. I adore competent journalists! The article covers just about all you'd want to read for a short reading break on a Monday...
