TBS Cancels 'Lopez Tonight'

Sad news but I'm not all that surprised.

TBS announced that they would not be renewing Lopez Tonight for a 3rd season:
TBS has reached the difficult decision not to order a third season of Lopez Tonight. Thursday will be the final episode of the show. We are proud to have partnered with George Lopez, who is an immensely talented comedian and entertainer. TBS has valued its partnership with George and appreciates all of his work on behalf of the network, both on and off the air.
The show which begins right after Conan had great ratings when it first aired in 2003 but since then have fallen, greatly. George Lopez is fantastic stand up comedian and the show was pretty funny the first few months but was then filled with cheesy {and badly written} jokes and I found myself having to force my laughter sometimes.

George opened up & joked about the news on Wednesday night's show:
So in case you didn’t hear the news, TBS has decided not to renew Lopez Tonight,” George announced on his show last night. “But that’s alright!”
I did get some good news this morning though. Sony announced they were doing a sequel to The Smurfs movie,” George said while wiping his brow. “So today I lost some work because I’m brown, but also I got some work because I’m blue.”
I've seen a couple of advertisements in my neck of the woods for two stand up shows he'll be doing at the local upscale casino and I'm really glad he's going back to his roots. He really needs to bring back the funny. Badly.
